Itinerary:10 Day Morocco Jewish Heritage Tour

Day 1:Casablanca airport transfer, City sightseeing

Upon arrival at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, indulge in a delectable dinner at a Kosher restaurant, before retiring for the night at your hotel. If you arrive early in the morning, take an opportunity to visit the stunning Temple Beth-El, which stands as the jewel of what was once a thriving Jewish community. Its magnificent stained glass windows and artistic elements are sure to captivate you. Make sure to squeeze in visits to Temple Em Habanim and Neve Chalom, should time allow.

Day 2: Explore other sites in Casablanca and drive to Rabat the capital of Morocco

Explore the Museum of Moroccan Judaism in Casablanca, which is the first and only Jewish museum in the Arab world, showcasing an impressive collection of historical and ethnographic artifacts spanning 700 square meters. Established in 1997 by the Jewish community of Casablanca, and backed by the Foundation of Jewish-Moroccan Cultural Heritage, the museum offers a glimpse into the rich history, traditions, religion, and daily life of Jews in Morocco. History buffs will also appreciate a visit to the Jewish Cemetery and Mellah, while the iconic Mosque of Hassan II offers breathtaking views of Casablanca from its elevated perch.

Day 3:Visit Rabat, Volubilis and Spend the night in Fez

Visit Rabat, and then take the road to visit Meknes and the Roman Ruins of Volubilis.

Visit the Royal Palace, the Hassan tower which stands on the hill overlooking the Wadi Bou Regreg. It is a gigantic mosque, emblematic of Rabat and famous for its unfinished minaret where storks nest. Next door, visit the beautiful Mausoleum of Mohammed V decorated with stained glass windows, white marble and a wrought-iron entryway with a stairway leading to an impressive dome. Visit the Jewish Mellah which today is now the home of very few Jewish families. Explore the gardens nearby and visit the Palace of Rabat and visit the Chellah and Kasbah Oudaya.

Discover the vast and impressive Meknes Medina with its maze-like alleys and bustling souks. Discover the majestic Bab Mansour gate, which leads to the main public square, the Place el-Hedim. Be amazed by Moulay Ismail’s royal palace, with its grand marble courtyards and intricate mosaics.

Continue your journey to the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, where the impressive ruins and well-preserved mosaics will transport you back to a bygone era. Explore the ancient temples, forum, and triumphal arches that remain standing, testaments to the Roman Empire’s influence in Morocco.

End your adventure with a visit to the nearby holy city of Moulay Idriss, a place of pilgrimage for Muslims from across the world. Take in the narrow, winding streets of this picturesque hilltop town, and marvel at the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Day 4:Guided city tour of the Imperial city of Fez

Experience the rich culture and history of Fez, Morocco by discovering its hidden gems. Explore the Mellah, a district with unmarked 17th-century buildings that once housed 40 synagogues. Marvel at the vast and picturesque Jewish cemetery next to the Royal Palace and the Em HaBanim synagogue, soon to be the home of the new Jewish Museum. Don’t miss out on visiting the prestigious University of Al-Karaouine. After a day of exploring, relax and rejuvenate at a comfortable hotel or riad in Fez.

Day 5:Head to Erg Chebbi through Ifrane with lunch in Midelt, Camel ride and overnight in the Camp

Embark on a thrilling adventure as you leave your hotel in Fez for the stunning Middle Atlas mountain range and the cedar forests. After a delicious lunch break in Midelt, continue on to the picturesque Ziz River, where you will witness the lush palm groves and traditional fortified kasbahs. Next, journey through the enchanting oasis towns of Erfoud and Merzouga before scaling the great Erg Chebbi dunes on the back of a majestic camel. Day 6:Sunrise over the dunes, Visit the Todra Gorge and continue to Dades valley

Take a delightful 1-hour stroll along the picturesque Todgha River, and soak in the sights of flourishing palm trees and olive groves. Day 7:High Artlas mountains, visit the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate, Spend the night in Marrakech

Indulge in a delicious breakfast before embarking on a journey to the breathtaking Roses Valley, Kelaa Mgouna, a renowned rose plantation. Immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting one of the rose-growing cooperatives. Traverse through the palm groves of Skoura oasis. Journey onwards to Ouarzazate, also referred to as ‘The Gate of The Sahara’. Enjoy a scrumptious lunch at the UNESCO-listed Aït Benhaddou kasbah, followed by an exploration of the kasbah’s rich history of being featured in famous films and photo shoots. In the afternoon, travel via the scenic Tizi-n-Tichka through the majestic Atlas Mountains. Arrive at your hotel in Marrakech in the early evening, just in time for a delectable Kosher dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 8:Explore Marrakech in a full day city tour

After indulging in a sumptuous breakfast, embark on a journey to discover the epicenter of Moroccan history and culture with the assistance of our trusted tour guide in Marrakech. Discover the Synagogue, Mellah, El Bahia Palace, The Koutoubia mosque, The market, and the revered Jemaa El Fna square. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant in the new city.
