Itinerary: 10 days Morocco tour from Casablanca to Marrakesh

Day 1:Casablanca airport transfer, visit the Mosque Hassan II, overnight in Rabat

Upon arrival at Casablanca International Airport, our expert driver will be waiting for you at the main entrance with a personalized sign. If your flight lands early, we’ll start the tour with a visit to Casablanca’s iconic Hassan II Mosque – one of the world’s tallest. You’ll be awed by its stunning architecture and elaborate detailing, and even have the chance to join a guided tour. Afterwards, we’ll continue on to Rabat, the bustling capital of Morocco. Check-in to your hotel and spend the night in comfort.

Day 2:Visit Rabat the capital of Morocco and the blue city of Chefchaouen

Begin your day with a visit to the magnificent Chellah Necropolis, a medieval fortress teeming with both Roman and Islamic ruins. Step through the grand entrance of the Kasbah des Oudaias, and discover Rabat’s charming old city center. Take a pleasant stroll through the serene Andalusian Gardens, savoring the peace and tranquility of this oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Next up, explore the magnificent Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V, remnants of an incomplete project from the 12th-century.

In the afternoon, we’ll set off on a scenic drive to the fabled Blue City of Morocco – Chefchaouen. At Plaza Outa el-Hammam, the main square named for the several public baths that used to encircle it, take in the town’s delightful blue-hued buildings reminiscent of a Moorish painting. Stop over at a cozy cafe and enjoy delicious local dishes before browsing the numerous shops for Moroccan souvenirs. Visit the impressive Grand Mosque and kasbah, with a garden, museum, and some ancient prisons to explore.

Drop you off at the Hotel for check-in.

Day 3:Guided visit Roman Ruins at Volubilis and Meknes, Overnight in Fez

After a delectable breakfast, we’ll proceed to the regal imperial city of Fez, with a stopover en route at the remarkable Volubilis ruins – a UNESCO heritage site that represents the far-reaching outposts of the Roman Empire into Africa. Delve into the ancient past as you explore well-preserved merchant homes, temples and admire the many mosaics.

Our next destination is the charming, less-crowded Meknes, a smaller version of Fes, for an introduction to your second historic imperial city. Two essential places to visit in Meknes are the Ville Imperiale and the Medina. Explore the opulent Bab al-Mansour gate, the grand Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, and the impressive Royal Stables.

Arrive to Fez and drop you off at the Hotel for check-in

Day 4:Explore the Imperial city of Fez with a certified guide

We have a full day dedicated to exploring the oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities – Fez. Founded in the 8th century, it’s home to the world’s first university and one of the most well-preserved medieval cities in the world. Fez is a unique blend of the medieval era and modern-day, mesmerizing you with its labyrinthine streets, haunting sounds, and enticing scents.

Our expert guide will take you on a guided tour that includes the medieval Medina, the Karaouine University, the Medersa Attarine, the Kingdom Palace, the Ben Denane Synagogue, and the bustling souks. A journey through this city will invigorate your senses and awaken your spirit like no other place can.

Day 5:Onwards to Merzouga through Midelt, visit Ifrane and Erfoud, camel trek and night in the Camp

We’ll kick off an early start after breakfast and head southward to the enchanting destination of Merzouga. As we drive, we’ll make our way up and over the enthralling Col du Zad pass, situated at an elevation of 7,146 feet, and relish the stunning cedar forests of the Middle Atlas mountains. You’ll be captivated by the sight of the Barbary Macaque monkeys that are native to the area.

After treating ourselves to a delicious lunch in the ‘apple city’ of Midelt, located close to the Moulouya River, we’ll journey towards the Ziz Valley, renowned for its palm tree clusters and hidden oases. Our route will expose you to ksars – fortified houses that were constructed to protect valuable goods like salt, gold, and exotic spices. Finally, we’ll cross the Tizi n’Talremt pass, leaving you enthralled by the unique beauty of Morocco’s countryside.

Journey through Erfoud, a vibrant town famous for its date festival and thriving fossil mining industry. We’ll visit a local cooperative where you can observe skilled artisans at work and discover the fascinating process of fossil excavation. Our next stop takes us to Erg Chebbi, a mesmerizing sea of sand dunes covering an expansive 13.5 square miles. With ever-changing formations and textures sculpted by the wind, this natural wonder is sure to take your breath away. As we reach Merzouga, you’ll hop atop a camel and traverse the dunes to arrive at your cozy campsite. After watching a spectacular sunset on the horizon, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars, huddled up by the warm firelight.

Day 6:Sunrise over the dunes, head to Dades valley

Embark on an enchanting early-morning stroll atop the dunes to witness the breathtaking sunrise. After indulging in a delicious breakfast, mount your trusty camel and return to Merzouga to meet your driver. After climbing aboard the vehicle, we’ll journey on to Todra Gorge, a natural wonder encircled by towering limestone cliffs, some reaching extraordinary heights of 1000ft, also known as Morocco’s answer to the Grand Canyon. As the sun traverses the sky, the gorge takes on a captivating array of hues, making it a must-see. Spend some time exploring this mesmerizing wonder before continuing onwards to the delightful Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night agaze upon the dazzling landscape.

Day 7:Visit the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou and Tizi N'Tichka pass over the high Atlas mountains

We’ll start our day with a delightful breakfast at the hotel, followed by a scenic drive through the breathtaking Dades Valley. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture some of your best shots on the famous “way of the thousand Kasbahs”. As our journey continues, we’ll pass through the enchanting rose valley and Skoura village, before arriving at our next destination – the renowned “Hollywood of Africa” in Ouarzazate. Here, we’ll treat ourselves to a scrumptious lunch at the grand Ait Ben Haddou Kasbahs, the largest in Morocco. After exploring this historical site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we’ll continue through the majestic Tizi ‘n’ tichka pass (2260m) over the magnificent High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop for a while to capture some of the awe-inspiring views. In the late afternoon, we’ll arrive at the vibrant Marrakesh, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel for check-in.

Day 8:Cultural guided city tour of Marrakesh

Embark on a journey to explore the enchanting Marrakesh, also known as the “red city of Morocco”. Your official guide will meet you at your hotel for a tour of significant historical and cultural sites, including the Koutoubia Mosque, Medrassa Ben Youssef Koran School, Saadiens tombs, Jamaa El Fena square, souks, and Bahia Palace. Savor a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in the new city before visiting the picturesque Majorelle Gardens. In the late afternoon, enjoy some free time to explore other parts of the city at your leisure.

Day 9:Essaouira coastal city day trip: seaside ramparts and fresh seafood

Depart at 8:00 AM and journey towards Essaouira, a laid-back beach town on the Atlantic coast. Leave the bustling city behind and pass through the rolling plains and endemic argan forests, where you may even spot goats grazing on the argan fruit in trees. You’ll have the option to visit an Argan Oil Cooperative to observe the extraction process of this precious oil. Upon arrival in Essaouira, take a leisurely stroll along the Skala de la Kasbah, the seafront ramparts that offer stunning views of the Atlantic and are lined with old brass cannons. Explore the UNESCO-protected medina before unwinding on the windswept beach. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you please.
