Itinerary: 9 days Morocco tour from Marrakesh to the imperial cities and desert

Day 1: Arrive: Marrakesh airport transfer

You will be welcomed at the international airport of Marrakesh. Afterwards, transfer to your Hotel for check-in.

Day 2: Explore Marrakesh in a full day guided city tour

We will ensure that you will see the most important sites of historical and cultural interest including the Koutoubia tower, the Saadiens tombs, the Medrassa Ben Youssef, the Jamaa El Fna square place and the Bahia Palace. Afternoon, we will continue to explore the new part of Marrakesh called Gueliz with a car. After having lunch we take you to visit the Majorelle Gardens and Mueseum of Yves Saint Laurent.

Overnight at the Hotel

Day 3:Depart to Dades Valley through the high Atlas Mountains, visit Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate

After breakfast at the Hotel, we will drive to Dades valley, by crossing the high Atlas mountains and ‘Tizi N’tichka’ pass , which is the highest road pass in Morocco at 2260m altitude. Stops at a various panoramic views in order to take pictures and admire the landscape. Guided visit of the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, a Kasbah of the 16th century recognized by the Unesco, here we will stay for lunch in a local restaurant. Afterwards, we will continue our journey to Ouarzazate (The African Hollywood), where we will visit the Atlas Studios of Cinema and Taourirte Kasbah. Then we will drive to the Roses valley through the way of 1000 Kasbahs. Overnight and Dinner at Dades Valley, in the upper Gorges.

Day 4: Visit the Todra Gorges and head to Merzouga, camel trek and night in the Camp at Erg Chebbi Desert


After Breakfast, we will drive to Todra Gorges (the grand moroccan canyon), famous for rock climbing at its rock walls that rise to 300m in a narrow part, here you will have a walk to smell the real nature of green agricultural lands and wide river. We will continue down to Erfoud, famous for its fossilized marbles, where you will have the opportunity to visit a workshop produces Merble fossiles. We will arrive to Merzouga at the evening, You will be welcomed with a cup of tea and spend an excellent night in the nomad desert camp. You will experience the camel ride to join the camp and get back to the vehicle the next day. While you enjoying the show of the sunset till you arrive to the Bivouac, you will have a private tent, the tents are well equipped with mattresses, blankets,cushions and also private toilets. You will be served a delicious Moroccan dinner, after that you will gather around the fire to admire a typical Berber music performed using drums under the sky full of stars.

Day 5:Sunrise over the dunes, following lunch in Midelt we continue to Fez through Ifrane

Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the view of the sunrise over the dunes. After a hearty moroccan Breakfast and shower, we will take a camel ride back to the vehicle (possibility with 4WD) we will leave for Ziz valley, stop for you to admire a wonderful panoramic view of Ziz palm oasis and Ziz gorges. Lunch will be in Midelt, then we will continue to Azrou by crossing the Middle Atlas mountains with its cedar forest, where we will find wild monkeys waiting for you to feed them. Before we arrive to Fez, we will stop for a while to have rest in Ifrane, the European-style town called also Switzerland of Morocco. At the evening we will arrive to Fez, Overnight at the Riad.

Day 6:Guided City Tour to Explore the Imperial City of Fez, and head to Chefchaouen

Guided visit of Fez, the oldest of the imperial cities, home to the world’s first university dating from the 9th century and one of the most complete medieval cities in existence, founded in 790 A.D. Seeming to exist somewhere between the middle ages and today, the Soul of Morocco stimulates the senses with its visual details, haunting sounds and rich aromas. Guided visit of medieval Medina, Karaouine University, Medersa Attarine, Kingdom Palace, souks. Spend the night at the Riad.

Afternoon we arrive to the ‘Blue Town’ where for every shop selling tourist gifts; shoe repairs, groceries, stationery and sweets, a tailor sewing an elegant djellaba, butchers, bakers (one of the centers of life in each area) although candle-stick makers don’t seem to have survived – Moroccan life as lived by the people of Chaouen. And don’t ignore the new town, which has some lovely examples of Andalusian architecture and a charming park at the end of Avenida Mohammed V.

Day 7:Visit the blue city of Chefchaouen and spend the night in Rabat the capital of Morocco

After breakfast, we will explore the Charming city mostly untouched since the 15th century, Chefchaouen offers a relaxed atmosphere with some of the friendliest people in the country and is known for its blue-washed buildings in its historic medina (old quarter). Explore its narrow streets and alleyways, which cling to the northern hillside of the mountains. 

Discover Plaza Outa el-Hammam, the main square named for the number of hammams (public baths) used to encircle it. Find a restaurant or café for a bite to eat before browsing the many shops offering traditional wares. Visit the Grand Mosque and kasbah (old fortress or fortification) and tour the kasbah’s garden, museum, and even some of its old prison cells. As the evening approaches, ascend the path to the white Spanish Mosque (20 to 30 minutes) to enjoy one last view over Chefchaouen as the sun sets behind the mountains.

Afternoon we will drive to Rabat the capital of Morocco with an overnight at the Hotel.

Day 8:Visit Rabat and the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, onwards to the imperial city of Marrakech

Visit the Capital of Morocco Rabat located on the Atlantic coast and the Bou Regreg River. Explore the Chellah Necropolis, a medieval fortified city at the heart of Rabat. Wander the enchanting grounds: a mix of Roman and Islamic ruins. Enter through the grand door of the Kasbah des Oudaias and step into the original site of Rabat.  Mostly a residential area today, wander the peaceful white and blue-washed streets and chat with locals. Visit the Andalusian Gardens. Built in the 20th century by the French, the gardens offer a serene space away from the crowds. Discover the Hassan Tower, a minaret of the incomplete mosque and Mausoleum of Mohamed V

Continue to Casablanca and visit Hassan II Mosque, the Corniche, Mohammed V place, United Nations place, law court, the prefecture and central post office.

Afternoon, we will drive back to Marrakesh and spend the night at the Hotel.

Day 9:Depart to Marrakech Airport

Depart to the airport ( You need to be at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight, so your departure will be organized accordingly).
