Continuing to the imperial city of Meknes, the 16th century capital whose ruler, Moulay Ismail, modeled himself on France’s ‘Sun King’, Louis XIV. Guided visit of the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Arrive in Fez and spend the night in the Riad.

Day 3:Explore the Imperial City of Fez with a certified Guide

All day devoted for visiting Fez, the oldest of the imperial cities, home to the world’s first university dating from the 9th century and one of the most complete medieval cities in existence, founded in 790 A.D. Seeming to exist somewhere between the Middle Ages and today, the Soul of Morocco stimulates the senses with its visual details, haunting sounds and rich aromas. Guided visit of medieval Medina, Karaouine University, Medersa Attarine, Kingdom Palace, Ben Denane synagogue, souks.

Day 4:Visit Ifrane, Overnight in Midelt

We start our journey over the Middle Atlas. Along the way the scenery becomes very alpine, nowhere more so that the picturesque town of Ifrane – the so called coldest town in Africa! This beautiful location is often likened to a Swiss Alpine resort. Along the way we also start to see our first glimpse of Morocco’s nomadic Berbers – travelling across the mountains and often staying in make shift tents as they head to their next destination.

Look out for the inquisitive resident Barbary Macaque monkeys as we pass through the cedar forests on our way to Midelt – the Apple capital of Morocco! Arriving late afternoon the remainder of the day is free to relax by the pool or take part in an optional walk in the local orchards.

Day 5:Onwards to Merzouga, camel trek and night in the Camp

Today we enjoy a scenic drive towards the Sahara. Stopping for a tasty Moroccan lunch before arriving into Merzouga. Climbing aboard the camels for an incredible trek into the Sahara desert to watch a beautiful sunset and spend the night at our remote luxury camp, nestled amongst the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi. Enjoy the local dinner with Berber music and an amazing night camping in the Sahara

Day 6:Sunrise over the dunes, head to Dades valley

Departing early, we ride back on camels disembarking for a truly stunning sunrise. After freshening up and breakfast in Merzouga Camp we’re back on the road heading Todra and Dades Gorges. Todra Gorge is surrounded by towering vertical limestone cliffs reaching heights of 1000ft and is known as Morocco’s Grand Canyon. The charm of Todra lies in its changing colours as the sun slowly moves from east to west. There’s time to explore the gorge before we continue on to scenic Dades Gorge, where we spend the night.

Then the roses valley and Skoura village. Continue to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”. Lunch is at the famous Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. After touring this UNESCO matrimonial historical site, our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi ‘n’ tichka pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains.
